my story

As a first-generation Iranian-American from the suburbs of DC now living in NYC, my journey to becoming a therapist began over sixteen years ago, sparked by a moment of revelation after leaving a therapy session. Although I didn’t pursue it immediately, the idea of becoming a therapist planted a resilient seed in my mind.

My path took a transformative turn when my life and marriage unraveled a few years later. It was a period of intense self-reflection and exploration, leading me to confront some pivotal questions, including my true purpose—launching me on my own hero’s journey. During this soul-searching phase, within the supportive space of a therapy session, I accepted the quest to become a therapist.

This course correction opened new horizons for me, especially in understanding my gender and sexuality. Coming out as queer was a monumental step, particularly against the backdrop of my evangelical upbringing. Navigating through the complexities of gender and sexuality, I realized the glaring scarcity of therapists who specialize in serving the queer, BIPOC, kink, trans, gender nonconforming, sex-positive, ENM, poly, and allied communities. Driven by my connection to these communities, I continue to focus my practice on supporting them.

In my own therapeutic journey as a client, I resonated with different therapies and modalities at various times, and I’ve sought to include many of them and more in my practice. To provide the most tailored and holistic experience for you, I work to integrate several therapies, incorporating somatic, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual approaches.

Beyond my professional life, I am far from being just a therapist. I find joy in journaling, meditation, biking, rock climbing, exploring new restaurants, indulging in Broadway shows, reading, practicing yoga, playing soccer, enjoying live music, visiting museums, and seeking new experiences that elicit awe and whimsy.
