Clark Sun, LCAT
I’m Clark Sun, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT). I work with adults who are exploring identity, healing emotional pain, and learning how to feel more at home in themselves and their relationships. I’m especially attuned to clients who have spent much of their lives showing up for others—and are now learning how to show up for themselves with more clarity, compassion, and agency.
Specializations
Relationship issues and couples counseling, anxiety and chronic stress, ADHD and focus/productivity challenges, career and work-related stress, life transitions, and self-esteem and confidence building.
I provide individual therapy, couples counseling, and family work, supporting adults across diverse identities and backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ clients and professionals balancing demanding personal and work lives.
Approach
Therapy with me is intentional, collaborative, and grounded. It’s not passive and it’s not surface-level. I work to create a space where you feel supported enough to grow into who you want to become—and if you’re not yet sure who that is, that’s okay. Exploration and discovery are part of the work, and we do that together.
Transparency matters to me. While no space can be guaranteed to feel completely safe all the time, I’m committed to creating a brave and supportive space—one where emotional risk-taking is honored, curiosity is encouraged, and discomfort is met with care rather than judgment. If something feels challenging or unexpected, we slow down, reflect, and work through it together.
I integrate evidence-based practices with creative and embodied approaches, including DBT, drama therapy and creative arts–based interventions, somatic awareness, attachment-informed and relational frameworks, and mindfulness and values-based practices. Together, we explore patterns and beliefs while also practicing skills that support regulation, boundaries, and self-trust—so therapy helps you feel more capable outside the session. We move at a pace that respects your readiness, honoring both your strengths and your nervous system.
My Goals for You
My goal isn’t to “fix” you—it’s to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that already know how to survive, adapt, and grow. I hope therapy becomes a place where you can exhale. Together, we work toward feeling more grounded and emotionally regulated, gaining clarity around identity, values, and needs, building confidence in relationships and boundaries, cultivating self-compassion without losing accountability, and creating a life that feels more intentional, connected, and authentic. I want you to leave our work feeling more empowered, more grounded, and more trusting of yourself and who you’re becoming.
My Journey
My path into this work has been shaped by both lived experience and professional training. I spent my early years in a predominantly Black community before being adopted into an Asian-identifying family and transitioning into non-Black spaces, while also growing up gay. Navigating multiple identities and communities from an early age gave me a deep understanding of how complex belonging can be—and how people often learn to adapt in order to fit. Over time, I came to value the importance of building identity and community in ways that feel self-defined and authentic.
Professionally, my education and work have taken me across different regions of the country, deepening my appreciation for transition, resilience, and the emotional impact of change. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a graduate degree from NYU Steinhardt in Drama Therapy. Drama therapy allows clients to explore identity, emotion, and meaning through both insight and embodied experience—always within a structured, trauma-informed framework—helping you access growth and understanding in ways that words alone may not reach.
Personal Notes
Virgo Sun ♍︎, Taurus Moon ♉︎, Sagittarius Rising ♐︎. When I’m not working, I’m often hiking, dancing, journaling, or watching live theatre. Meditation helps keep me grounded—and I’m a firm believer in the power of small rituals that bring you back to yourself.
